Real Madrid Join the Race for Jarell Quansah: Bayer Leverkusen Face Losing a Key Defender

According to a report by Sport Bild, Bayer Leverkusen increasingly face difficulty retaining English defender Jarell Quansah amid strong interest from top European clubs. Real Madrid have reportedly joined the race to sign the 23-year-old as defensive reinforcement for 2027, with both Antonio Rüdiger and Eder Militao potentially leaving the club. Sources also indicate Quansah is among the preferred candidates of coach Jose Mourinho. Beyond Real Madrid, Liverpool hold a €70 million buy-back clause with a deadline of June 15 next year. Chelsea and Arsenal are also interested; Arsenal reportedly offered €65 million last summer but were rejected by Leverkusen. Coach Xabi Alonso values Quansah's height and technical ability. To date, Quansah has made 50 competitive appearances for Leverkusen, scoring five goals and providing one assist. He played centre-back last season under Kasper Hjulmand, while current coach Carles Martinez deploys him at right-back. Should bidding escalate, Leverkusen could command a fee far exceeding the €35 million received from Liverpool.
