Vietnam Swimming Federation Organizes National Championship 2026

Saigon, June 15, 2026 – The Vietnam Swimming Federation has just announced the plan to organize the National Swimming Championship of 2026, scheduled to take place from August 10 to 15 at Hang Xanh swimming pool. This is the second consecutive year the championship is held after a period of interruption due to war. Mr. Nguyen Van Son, President of the Federation, stated that the goal is to discover and train young talents, while also improving the performance of athletes for upcoming SEA Games and Olympics. This year, 12 provinces and cities will participate with over 150 athletes competing in 20 events. Noteworthy are veteran swimmers Le Van Phuc (50m freestyle) and Tran Thi Lan (100m backstroke), along with many new faces from Central Vietnam. Organizers said they will apply international competition standards and invite some coaches from France to support technical aspects. The biggest expectation this year is to break two national records: men's 100m butterfly and women's 200m breaststroke. Additionally, the Federation is promoting the construction of a national training center to sustainably develop the swimming movement. 'Swimming is not just a sport but also an essential survival skill for young people,' Mr. Nguyen Van Son emphasized.
